Word Cutouts
Bumpers · 9:16 · 8.4 s
DetailsThe same word highlighted on newspaper, notebook, typewriter and kraft, fixed at center and swapping every 0.1 s, until pasted cutouts form the phrase.
The look has three signatures. First: the same word appears highlighted in many different texts and stays still at the center of the screen, while every 3 frames (0.1 s, a sixteenth note at 150 bpm) everything around it changes: the paper (newspaper, magazine, ruled notebook, typewriter, kraft, old book, receipt, sticky note, dark paper, among 11 materials), the font, the highlight (highlighter, pen underline, hand-drawn circle, black redaction bar, pasted cutout, rubber stamp, among 13 highlights) and the sentence the word sits in. Second: an old lens that keeps closing in, with a zoom from 1 to about 1.5× and a rotation of up to 7 degrees building up, an oval vignette, red and cyan chromatic aberration, scan lines and depth of field. Third: the sound, a tape voice that drops in pitch, with a click on each swap, followed by a beat of silent black and a trap/drill drop at 150 bpm, in which the words become pasted cutouts and form the phrase. The example runs 8.4 s in 9:16 and uses the phrase "One word changes everything", with a montage for each word and the collage at the end. The paper, font and highlight come from a seeded draw, which always gives the same result and never repeats the material twice in a row, and they can be pinned on the pages that matter. The skill builds everything in HTML pages animated frame by frame (GSAP, Playwright and ffmpeg), ships the style library, the paper textures and the open fonts, and synthesizes the sound without any ready-made samples. You pick a short phrase, 2 to 6 words (or a single word), and Claude writes, for each word, 10 snippets in English where it appears naturally, with no made-up numbers or facts. Limits: it's a vertical video style (1080 by 1920, at 30 frames per second) for short phrases; long text, narration and other formats are out. The word only stays still at the center because the skill measures each page before rendering. The snippets around each word are written for the video and are not quotes from real newspapers or books. Requirements: Node 20 or newer, ffmpeg and python3. The skill's setup installs gsap and playwright (with Chromium) via npm and, in a Python virtual environment, numpy, scipy and pillow.
